  2. For some, acting like men means beating the kid to an inch of their life for blocking the tv. You need to be really specific about what you mean by that, as traditionally many men were hunters or warriors, and it was simply better to keep kids away from them, as many social animals (rats) and primitive societies do/did.

  3. That is only half the problem. Living in a house with mentally ill people transfers PTSD to the children - the symptoms usually only emerge in adulthood.

  4. Same, but late improvement is irrelevant as the real damage is done at a young age, most of which you cannot even remember. I can't but wonder whether the alternative would have been better or worse, I suppose it depends on a great many specifics.

  5. Thank you for saying that. We kept both our children at home while working (office work) and it was challenging to the extreme. Friends dumped theirs at daycare and couldn't understand what we were talking about. My one friend's child spent so much time at daycare she developed an accent specific to a certain racial group.

  6. A lot has to do with feeling safe. If a single parent make the child feel safe about wider life then one is enough. Normally the father does this but the mother can fill the role if she knows how. Speaking from personal observation here.
