  14.  @demetriuskoitsopoulos8672  The teamster rank-and-file (the actual machinists in the shops, for instance) have been quietly growing more conservative than their leadership for decades. The vocal part of the conservative side of the teamsters has grown to the point where they can't be ignored anymore. If you've got a vocal segment of the teamsters being conservative and it's getting 50% of the vote, you should likely assume another 20% quiet segment which is also conservative. The leadership has known about this for decades and has still gone to the Democrats. Because the leadership has been liberal-run for decades. But this divides the rank-and-file from its own leadership. On the teamsters are getting smaller. And they're falling farther out of favor with those who would be their own rank-and-file ordinary members. So it's obvious that they have to do something. So doing what they should have been doing all along, and refusing to endorse either party is what they're doing now.
