  4. I mean, all countries has some bad ideas in them, but it was putin who used it to his own benefit and distributed it through his propaganda. Look at the american right for example - give them gas & oil and they'll slowly build a fascist state.

  5. 99% of Russians who say the word aren't in Russia right now. Roman isn't either, but he still wants to visit his relatives there, and who knows how long putin's regime will be able to survive, so i kind of understand Roman here. Yes, if you're using "wrong" terminology regarding the situation, they may arrest you. If you oppose putin too much, they may even go after your relatives in Russia (Ivan Zhdanov - Oleg Zhdanov situation).

The word "war" only matters if it's being used in particular context, and you can't exactly know what that context is - as with many laws in Russia created in putin's era, there's a big freedom of interpretation. I hope that explains why some use it and some don't.
