  1. I think the time period would have been difficult to detect this type of abuse. How I remember the 80s and 70s there was a lot of formality, plus a senior position such as teacher people then wouldn't have questioned anything. It may be difficult for anyone born in the millennium times to understand social attitudes being as they were, but people didn't feel comfortable talking about these issues, and it was unseemly invisible. Since the Internet came along, they have censored a lot that got through at the time, but now it is withdrawn.

  2. Yes, this type of abuse does and can occur. The law on sex abuse/sexual assault needs to adapt to the knowledge we have today, how criminal proceedings can commence, there is still some preconceptions to common belief.
