Wrightspeed diesel turbine electric powertrains seem better to me. I don’t understand why this technology isn’t making better progress. It doesn’t eliminate diesel, but it makes better use of it.

GM’s ZH2 fuel cell vehicle does, indeed, have lithium ion batteries, but not nearly as many as a vehicle powered only by such batteries.

Excellent presentation! Production of hydrogen from water is indeed the fundamental problem. There are new methods of production being developed which use bacteria or algae in the process. In the meantime, electrolysis can work where there is sufficient sunlight and where fueling can be concentrated. My county is one which has some fuel cell powered buses in use. They produce their own hydrogen from solar powered electrolysis of water, so there is no distribution problem. Large fleets are the best customers for fuel cell technology right now.
