Grocery shopping isn’t botany class. Anything that is not animal or mineral is vegetable.

We have unit pricing in supermarkets in most places in the USA.

“Fruit” and “vegetable” are not mutually exclusive, especially in ordinary life. We aren’t in botany class.

Pickling cucumbers are not the same as salad cucumbers.

“Fruit” and “vegetable” are not mutually exclusive terms. “Fruit” has a specific botanical meaning. “Vegetable” is used in a very general way. If it isn’t animal or mineral, it is vegetable, in the guessing game. In ordinary parlance, we use both terms loosely for edible plants, making distinctions based on how use them.

I’ve been to Costco with a friend who’s into it, but I don’t get the appeal. I can relate to saving by buying in bulk, but I can do that in the regular stores, selectively, for products which I know will not be wasted, and for which I have room. It doesn’t work for perishable items. A better way to save for a small household is to supplement a regular supermarket with Grocery Outlet and US Chef’Store.
