  1. My favorite apple is the Fireside, which I discovered in a farmers’ market in Minnesota years ago. I’ve never seen it anywhere else. My grandmother had a small, sweet, bright red apple we just called a “June apple.” I’ve never seen one anywhere else. It never occurred to any of her many descendants to propagate cuttings until it was too late.
