  1.  @Rampart.X -- Yes, except the Euro-pallet. Europeans are so fanatical about Metric dimensions that they would rather have a pallet which doesn't quite pack neatly in a standard container, requiring slightly wider Euro-containers, than to just use a pallet which fits.

  2. He didn't just perfect the container, he pioneered intermodal shipping by integrating ship/rail/truck freight. His company became Sea-Land.

  3. I keep a vehicle in storage. I looked at one storage yard that used containers, but found that the width wasn't enough to be practical. Storage units are generally ten feet wide, and will hold most ordinary vehicles comfortably with enough room to get around.

  4. I don't think one major innovation can be ranked over another. It is better just to say what each one did.

  5. The best designs using containers generally require a great deal of modification. Modular systems designed for making buildings are a better solution.
