  2. It was the standard, though. I didn’t have much money, but I bought a used Schwinn when I got a paper route. Actually, I had no money until I got my route. The proprietor of the bike shop let me take it on an agreement to make a monthly payment. Small town values in the 1950s.

  4. Early shows were live. When videotape came in, it was mainly used for convenience. Probably few people thought the show was worth archiving.
