  2. Not really explosive. It burns. If the rocket broke open, as the shuttle Challenger fuel tank did, you would get a rapid burn, but not technically an explosion.

  4. There were hundreds of engineers working on the Saturn V. Thousands, if you count all subcontractors involved. The F-1 engine was designed and built by Rocketdyne. The chief engineer was Samuel Kurtz Hoffman.
