  3. I was just reading a book by Ben Rich on the Lockheed Skunk Works. He was the designer of the propulsion system for the Blackbird. Here is a quote from his book about that aircraft: “... our airplane would sit on the tarmac leaking fuel from every pore.” If aeronautical engineers use the term, I don’t see why a journalist should not.

  4. Now the language police come out. “Tarmac” is a paving material made of tar and crushed rock, more commonly called “blacktop” when used on streets. I can’t tell if the paving showing in this video is blacktop or cement, but it is not worth getting my shorts in a knot about it. “Tarmac” was originally a brand, but it is used generically now.

It is not because of my nationality that I can’t. As for the border in Ireland, the UK should just leave it as it is. Nobody wants border controls in Ireland and the Good Friday Agreement rules it out.

  14. Scare tactics. The EU can continue without the UK and, if they choose, they can have good relations with the UK. Nothing much needs to change, only that the EU will be unable to impose its will on the UK. The EU have been poisoning relations with the UK by the way they have tried to undercut Brexit. That’s bad policy. Just as in any divorce, it is better to part on fair and friendly terms.
