  2. Anyone in the US who is a serious student of the war knows of the great sacrifice of the Russion people, both military and civilian. I (a USA native) have been to St. Petersburg and seen the markers showing the nearest approach of the German army to the city, and have seen the damage to the cathedral which was left as a reminder. I have walked along the Kremlin wall in Moscow and read the names of the hero cities. I hope that good relations will be restored between our people while I am still alive to experience it.

  3. Every nation bordering Germany, except neutral Switzerland, surrendered. None was prepared to resist the Wermacht. The United States wan't prepared, either, but we had the advantage of being an ocean away.
