There are many town names used in multiple states.

The whole purpose of these videos is to explain the process of interrogation.
2
Some do, but then there is no interrogation to make one of these videos.
1
The instigator, anyway. The mind behind this crime is no genius.
1
His ostensible motive was a lie, I think.
1
It isn't necessary to prove motive. Motive is most useful in a circumstantial case, because the jury has to build a picture of the crime out of the various pieces of evidence. The motive helps explain it. Here, motive doesn't matter because his guilt is evident. Whether his stated motives were his actual motives or not doesn't matter, because the whole thing doesn't make any sense. It was a stupid crime in its conception, and even more stupid in its execution.

The narration is the whole point of the video.
1
None. What are you referring tp? The voice is filtered to have a character distinct from the normal voices of the people in the video, that's all.
1
Perhaps, but I don't think they are claiming this is an exact science. They are explaining how interrogations work to get information from persons who may have committed a crime. They do indicate in these videos when there are multiple interpretations of behavior.
1
The reason they filter the voice is to make it distinct from the normal voices of the people in the video. That way, it is immediately clear that you are hearing the narrator as they switch back and forth. I think it works well.

I think all detectives learn this.

I think he had something to do with it in the first place. Thayne's stated motivation doesn't make sense to me.
1
It is fitting.
1
I think it is open to make Thayne more at ease. He is not under arrest at that point, only a person of interest being interviewed to see what he knows that could help the case. They don't want him to know that he is a suspect until they have him cornered.
1
His closing statements disgust me. What twisted thinking!
1
Reports elsewhere have suggested that the real motives were an unpaid $10,000 debt and a desire to get with the 16-yr-old daughter. In any case, a motive isn't needed. This crime isn't any more understandable with a different motive. Why murder the boy?
1
@PallasAndDove -- There were, but not many. Violence in entertainment and drugs are factors in the increased rate of heinous crimes, in my opinion. Multiple murders are so common we can't keep them straight anymore.

This guy could not have gotten away with it.
1
That's not strange. Have you never read "Blondie"? The comic, not the band.
1
Or the best trained.
