  1. They don't, but it is about the way the policy was changed, and the timing. There is nothing wrong with a newspaper having a policy of not making endorsements generally. That was the policy of the Seattle Sun, long ago. It was always their policy and it applied to all elected offices. What WaPo did here was different. It isn't about what readers need, it's about where does WaPo stand.
