  1. They went wrong when they merged with McDD. Cultural change is slow through the process of employees retiring and new employees hiring on. But a merger can make a large change in corporate culture overnight.

  2. Frederick Deal — Actually, you can only cut off the electric power to the stabilizer completely, which means you have to adjust the stabilizer manually. This is slow and difficult. If it has moved too far, it is impossible. They should have added a switch to disable MCAS trim while preserving the operation of the trim switches on the yoke. The revised MCAS won’t do that, but part of the fix is to limit the action of MCAS to just one cycle, and to limit the amount of adjustment.

  5. cnordegren — That remains to be seen. He seems to be doing what needs to be done to get the company back on its feet and to correct the problems that got them in trouble. He deserves a chance. An outsider who was unfamiliar with the company would have a longer learning curve.
