  2. The remarks about using feet for a physics problem illustrate the difference between Usanians (Americans) and others. I’m sure the presenter knows metric units and knows that metric units are generally used in science. But the people who need the answer aren’t scientists. They want the answer in feet because that is the unit most familiar to them. So he just computed it in feet directly. A metric purist would compute it in mètres and tell the customer to convert it if she or he wants something else. We Usanians are practical and accommodating. That’s the difference.
