We (in the USA) are not all the same, but even highly skilled pilots, with a reputation of being conservative in how they handle the aircraft, can sometimes get into a situation from which there is no escape. Recently, a B-52H went into the water near Guam, apparently from stabilizer trim being out of control. The crash was not due to arrogance, but may have been due to an error in judgment, and of failure to recognize the problem and take corrective action soon enough. A MAX crash certainly could have happened with a US pilot. When things go wrong in unexpected ways, the crew may or may not get out of it, depending on decisions they make on the spur of the moment, regardless of national origin.
