The design of the bridge in Minneapolis is conventional by today’s practice, so is not as great a concern. The FIU bridge was inherently high-risk because there was nothing like it anywhere.

The worst that was actually built, certainly.

The Engineer of Record was Denney Pate of FIGG.

The 737 has been flying for a long time with two AoA sensors. The problem isn’t the number of sensors, it is how they were used in the MAX as first released. You may not know that a Qantas Airbus, with three AoA sensors, had a similar failure. It didn’t crash, but it seriously injured several people.

Not really. None of that had been built yet. The weight of the main span was certainly a factor. The truss was not strong enough to hold itself up. The tower would not have added weight to the truss, and the cable housings very little.

Yes, the FIU engineering faculty were behind this concept — until it fell down.

Two executives were fired. Probably not enough.

There is no question that the MCAS in the 737 MAX was botched, and made the MAX models unsafe. The recertified MAX with the redesigned MCAS is as safe as the 737 NG, and that is very safe indeed. This video is not fantasy. It is fairly accurate.
