  1. The way eggs are packaged in the US, by the dozen, a package can be divided into two half-packages. Some egg cartons are designed so they can easily be broken in half without damaging the eggs. I never buy eggs that way, but for some people that is useful.

  2. If you have a need for Ax paper sizes, you can buy paper in that size and printers which support it. For most people in the most common situations, letter and legal suffice. Those sizes are very old, so they are firmly established. You can also buy two-hole binders and punches.
