  1. France shared a border with Germany. The United States Army was no better prepared for WW II than France, but we had the advantages of being an ocean away with a large industrial capacity.

  2. It wasn’t, but it was next to Germany so easily overrun by better prepared German forces. Britain had an advantage in that the Channel was a natural barrier relatively easy to defend. The United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand were so far from the fighting that they were barely touched by hostile forces. There was a great deal of heroism from The Resistance in occupied France.
