  16. Those stretch limos are inherently unsafe. I don’t think they should be allowed on the roads at all. There was a horrible incident with one in California in 2013 which killed five passengers. They are death traps. They are made by cutting up a perfectly good vehicle to make them three times as long, and far heavier, with inadequate braking capability. They are built by amateurs, who are only interested in the most seats at lowest cost, and they seem to skirt vehicle safety regulations. There is no need for them. There are limos built on regular truck chassis which do not require modification of the frame and which can provide for emergemcy egress such as exists on any properly designed bus. It is time to get these things off the road.

  31. Zelensky was a fool to think that NATO would fight Russia on Ukraine’s behalf. I fault the United States (since I am a US citizen) for letting Ukranians believe that they could enter NATO and that we would protect them from Russia. This war was predictable and, in fact, was predicted years ago. Ukraine chose a path leading to war with Russia and they got war. Now, how can it be ended without a wider war?

  36. It seems inappropriate to me. Should every private group be allowed to fly their flag wherever they please? There are countless private flags. It is impractical to accomodate them. It has nothing to do with the merits of any group. At federal facilities, the US flag should be flown everywhere, along with any flags that are associated with the facility — in this case, the flag of the Dept. of Veterans Affairs.

  49. Sounds like a whitewash to me. A building does not become structurally unsound merely because of poor maintenance. We can know what happened only through a forensic engineering analysis. That will be difficult if it is just demolished. It probably should have been demolished decades ago rather than turning it into apartments.
