They will still be able to make trade agreements and other treaties if they will just put aside their hurt feelings. They just won’t be able to coerce the UK into converting to the Euro or to annex the UK’s armed forces.

There are several ways of resolving an election when there are more than two choices, and all are democratic. Each method has its advantages. Simple plurality (FPTP) has the advantage of tending to produce a majority in a governing body even when there was no majority in many seats. That is a good characteristic. The purpose of a governing body is to govern.
