  2. The reason that conventional trucks are body-on-frame design is so they can be ordered without the bed, to support third-party adaptation for particular uses. Another aspect of a conventional design is that the bed can be covered with a rolling or fold out cover, or with a higher cover, or with just a tarp. A rack can be added to carry material longer than the bed. What a serious truck offers is adaptability.

  4. They are in use today in some buses in Alameda County, California as a demonstration project. The buses work as well as any other. The U.S. Army is experimenting with them using the Chevy Colorado ZH2. The mistake people make is thinking only in terms of personal vehicles for the general public rather than about where they might have application.
