  1. Most of this is not peculiar to Voyager, or even to space probes. Only the radio link is peculiar to spacecraft, and very little is given here. Is tere temporary storage to hold the new software or path instructions? It seems there must be, because it would take some time to transmit the program, and it would have to be checked for transmission errors before installing it. If you just started writing the memory when data started to be received, an interruption would leave the space raft in an inoperable state.
