  2. In any case, it’s imprecise. Not a method I would use on my engine. I drive my direct-injection engine gently, and if I ever get enough carbon buildup to cause a problem, I will have my dealer do a cleaning procedure.

  3. I drive my 2.5l direct-injection engine gently, never anywhere near redline. If, someday, it needs internal cleaning, I think there are better ways to do it. But I expect it will last longer than I do.
