You didn’t mention that, nowadays, automakers recommend changing oil once a year regardless of mileage, and they enforce this with a reminder because modern engines contain a clock and calendar. So if after only 1000 miles of use you get the warning because of the time lapse, how important is this?

I don’t think it’s a mistake. The lighter components of the oil should be most easily lost, so the viscosity should increase.

I had only put 1500 miles on my truck before my oil life meter expired for time (1 year). I was about to park it for a few months, so I let it slide until spring. Full synthetic. Is there a problem with that?
