There is nothing inherent in left-of-center views that would put one inopposition to what this guest is saying. I think he makes perfect sense and I have leaned left all my life. The problem is, left/right is a one-dimensional model, which is simplistic. People and politics are multidimensional.

  16. Rubbish. The reason there was no deal was that PM May wasted a lot of time allowing the EU to set the terms of a deal which was no deal at all and unacceptable to a House that wanted a deal. She ran the clock down, with the consent of the House. There was nothing left to do but to get out. You can’t get a reasonable deal unless you are negotiating from a position of parity with the other side. That’s why you have to just get out first. This is so basic children understand it.

The United States has a trade deal (NAFTA) with Mexico and Canada. There is certainly smuggling of various kinds going on. We have a border control serviice and they do what they can.

  22. It is ironic that Farage seems to oppose the voting system (first-past-the-post), because that system was a key part of breaking the gridlock on Brexit. Because of the number of parties and because of their irreconcilable differences, a system of proportional representation would make gridlock a permanent condition of British politics.

  25. JHB doubts Epstein killed himself, but no one has offerred a plausible scenario for how he might have been murdered while alone in a cell in a federal jail. For that matter, no one has even attempted an implausible scenario. They simply assert it and they ignore or misstate the facts. Such as the fact that he had updated his will and attempted suicide not long before. Suicide by hanging is not that unusual in jails. It is just about the only way one can commit suicide in jail.
