  1. Detroit8V92tta — Not that amazing. They were built for long-term reliability because otherwise the maintenance costs would have been too high. Today, we get the impression that mechanical systems are unreliable because so much of what we buy is junk. It doesn’t have to be that way, but you have to be willing to pay for a better machine.
