  3. That sometimes happens for witnesses whose testimony is known, for example doctors who have made a written report. Both sides have the report, and the attorney who called the witness wants to get certain contents of the report on the record, attested to by the person who wrote the report. That part of the testimony is pro forma. Nobody objects to the procedure because both sides use it and both know that the information in the report is admissable and will be admitted. It is just a matter of wanting to be efficient and not overlook some important detail.

Where I lived, there were no drugs that I knew of except alcohol and tobacco. We were not yet fully at war in Vietnam. Politics were civil. Those were peaceful times,, mostly.
