  1. It is is not surprising to see family members sticking together in difficult times. I will not judge the family. Jurors must be independent. Family members are not independent, but they do not decide the case.

  2. Not true. The defense must prove insanity by a preponderance of the evidence. The prosecution must prove the elements of the murder and assault charges beyond reasonable doubt.

  3. Is Dr. Obradovich a psychiatrist? I have not been able to find her testimony. Is it online? Edit: I found it. Dr. Sylvia Obradovich is an M.D. specializing in psychology, but apparently not a psychiatrist. Edit: The M.D. may have been a mistake in a source I used. She is Doctor of Psychology, a clinical psychologist. By the way, her name seems to be O’Bradovich.

  8.  @JustLikeJulia9 — I didn’t hear her testimony directly, I just read a news account of it. It seems to me that she did a thorough study of Sydney’s behavior just before and at the time of the killing, whereas the other psychologists were just basing their opinions on information after the fact. I think O’bradovich was searching diligently for signs which would support a finding of insanity, but couldn’t find anything. I agree with her that cognizance of wrongfullness doesn’t just get turned off and on quickly.
