  2. Do this experiment: Get a film camera. Go out on a night with a clear sky and a gibbous moon. Set the exposure so that the film captures detail from the surface of the moon, not washed out by overexposure. See how many stars you get on the image.

  5. The moon is pretty small when viewed from Earth — only about half a degree. When photographers want a nightime scene with the Moon in it, often they will make a double exposure, to make the image of the Moon larger and to place it for the best visual effect.
