  1. Nick Levine — That is not the only reason, or even the primary reason. The primary reason is that a faulty sensor is allowed to put the flight control systems into an unsafe state. While a well-trained pilot may be able to save your life in such a situation, you should not bet your life that every pilot will do it. Better to stay out of unsafe states altogether.
