I don’t think convincing the flying public to fly on Max is a big hurdle at all. Here on the Web we hear a lot from people claiming they will never fly on it. These people are a miniscule fraction of the flying public, if they even fly at all. Ordinary people will fly on the aircraft that takes them where they want to go.

frankpinmtl — I don’t know anything about that, but anybody who thought they were flying on a Max was not thinking clearly, because they have been grounded. Maybe that’s an indication of the low intelligence of SWA passengers. A lot of them are Californians.

Rd G — People aren’t going to boycott the Max to satisfy you. Get used to it.

Rd G — “overlords”? Get a grip. Besides, I have been quite critical of Boeing in these forums. You haven’t been paying attention.

Christopher Spavins — There is no inherent flaw.

Christopher Spavins — The Max is grounded because of flaws in the MCAS. I took your comment to mean the aircraft was flawed beyond the poorly implemented MCAS. The grounding will be lifted when the revised MCAS is certified, which it should be in June.

Bob Yehlen — Wrong. You are not an aircraft designer. You are merely repeating a myth being circulated on the Web. Boeing are designing a new aircraft, but it doesn’t have anything to do with the 737.

frankpinmtl — I looked for it. The only stories I could find about “panic” pertained to flight 1380, which had an engine come apart and break a window, killing one passenger. I found an article reporting that some passengers were concerned because the safety card referred to the 737 Max. (The same card is used for the Max and NG models.) A few concerned passengers do not amount to a panic.
