  1. This is not at all surprising. Alaska Airlines has Airbus planes only because they were acquired in a merger. It is good business to consolidate on one type of aircraft. The Airbus planes will be sold while they still have some value, and Alaska will have a new fleet when air travel returns to normal.

  3. The 737 NG is among the safest airliners. The MAX with the MCAS reworked is essentially the same as the NG. It will be among the safest airliners flying.

  4. The MAX now being delivered is not the same. It cannot crash in the way that two did because the problem has been fixed.
