  1. Chase T — That’s baloney. The story is well documented. Franklin didn’t believe the structure was helical until Crick and Watson had completed their model and showed her how it fit her data. By mutual consent, they published separate notes in the same issue of Nature proposing the helical structure. Franklin herself never claimed anything was “stolen” and remained on good terms with Crick to the end of her life. The “stolen” story is a fabrication of people with a political agenda. People who are interested in the history of science know of Franklin’s contribution and she is held in high regard for it.

  2. The title is wrong. Watson and Crick found the structure of DNA, as Watson said here at the outset. DNA was already known, but not its structure.
