  1. Russia must take the eastern territories which are predominately Russian, because Ukraine has proven itself unable or unwilling to protect them. Russians in the east have been under attack for eight years since the 2014 coup, after which legal protections for Russian language were ended. This is one of the principal provocations for the war.
