  4. There is no need to suppose that life could also be based on silicon. We understand carbon-based biochemistry to some extent, but not how to originate life forms. We know nothing about silicon-based biochemistry, not even whether there is such a thing. If there were, it wouldn’t change the probabilities by much, so there is no point even considering it.
