There's no many problems with this comment...
First of all, things like this aren't actually fit for long term habitation. They leak and mold making the people in them sick. They have electrical problems and burn down. Theyre not insulated from insects, and deteriorate much faster than an actual house. Etc... etc...
But more importantly, there aren't a lot of homeless people squatting on open ranges of land. Theyre in the cities, where shelters need to be more apartment/hotel style. Theres a premium on space, and a lot of people who need shelter.
The problem with that is that those places become prisons, crack dens, and magnets for violence and theft. People are constantly prayed upon. Unless you're willing to fund 24/7 security, theyre extremely dangerous places to be, and every single time a place like that goes up,many choose to go back to the streets to stay safe.
Its not greed or indifference. There just isn't a good answer.
