GabDubé you know kevlar wont stop any type of rifle round right? thats why they use steel and other harder metals and even a crossbow or bow type weapon makes it useless its nade for stopping the usual fmj pistol threats and thats about it even small fast moving pistol rounds could get through it unless you stacked so many layers that its too heavy to wear would it ever stop a rifle round or small fast pistol round

GenericFakeName there will never be a full body suit thats wearable and able to take anything thats thrown at it something will always be able to take them out even a 50 bmg is enough to go through or at least still have power enough to very badly hurt you if not go all the way through the armor and the military has weight constraints cause of all the other stuff they have to carry in addition to the weight of the armor and they have to take cost into account cause of the vehicles and gas for those vehicles and ammo for the weapons and all the other expenses of war

B W theres always going to be something that can penetrate or even if it doesnt still be able to badly hurt you enough to take you out of the fight there will never be a full body suit that can tank anything and keep the wearer completely unharmed a 50 bmg could just about tear through any full body suit you could ever make thatd be light enough to actually wear

Norian Arijuna if by aramids you mean like kevlar type fabrics used in soft body armor they definately wont stop an ak or similar type rounds theyre mainly for pistol calibers only and not small fast pistol calibers at that even an intermediate rifle round will pass right through unless you layer it so thick itd be too heavy to wear by military standards cause they have so much other gear to carry like ammo and med kits and hydration and rations etc that they carry

Vincent Falcone the thing about armor though is theres always some way of defeating it and always people looking for new ways to defeat said "best body armor" of the time and i can for sure say without a doubt that there wont ever be a full body suit that can shrug off everything you throw at it without the wearer being taken out of the fight indefinately

  7. curtis brown the full body plate armor could be defeated with arrows either shot from a certain weight bow or cause they had spear heads made from a certain metal or a combination of both cause it was either a softer steel or not heat treated the way we can now

  8. weird science even so it wont stop rifle rounds of any kind unless stacked so thick you couldnt wear it for the weight they said their bulletproof shirt is like 4 pounds and is still only rated the same as kevlar hard body armor will always win out cause it dumps all of it energy when it hits unless they come out with man portable forcefields that are actually affordable and sustainable then the hard armor is the best youll get unless youre in a tank nowadays they have stuff that make rpgs etc obsolete cause they detonate them before they hit the tank now all they need is something to melt bullets before it hits the soldier

Norian Arijuna it was more than likely from a long distance so the round lost power and was at an angle that a made it no able penetrate if you get a straight on shot at a close enogh range kevlar does no good against any rifle or pistol that has decent velocity and is small like you said and steel isnt that bad for armor ive see ar-500 steel stop .338 lapua bullets with just one plate i think and not even that thick of a plate either
