Italy probably wouldn't have bet their entire economy on being Europe's producer of cheap goods in the twentieth century, and endlessly devalued their currency till China's ascension to the WTO left them in economic ruins. Rome's expertise was in reverse engineering and improving technology. They probably would have been something like Germany (quality manufacturing) with a touch of Japan (adopting and adapting new technology) so we would likely have Roman box trucks, industrial machinery, and consumer electronics competing around the world today like they still do with sports cars in our timeline.
