Imagine a Dragon Age game built around a Homosexual character converted to Heterosexuality by the Church of Andraste. A story that rubs your nose in that message as the core element of the narrative and that casts judgement on any character who disagrees. I would find it obnoxious and cloying, and I wouldn't have to disagree with the message to think so. Origins was built on the idea that nobody is as good as they think they are or as bad as their enemies claim they are. They took the South Park route of dealing with controversial subjects. You could side with anybody you wanted and justify it, but you would always have some moral "ick factor" staring you in the face like spoiler Bhelen being an open-minded progressive willing to help the Gray Wardens but also being a scheming murderer. Origins was a complex and morally nuanced game with no absolute "good guys" which I played over a dozen times through to experience every story variant. Dragon Age II was half finished Shovelware that forced you to make inexplicable binary choices like "be an absolute monster to somebody" or "encourage them to do evil to other people." I couldn't even play Inquisition. I will never purchase another Dragon Age product ever again, nor will I ever talk up any of the good Dragon Age games ever again lest I create more disappointed fans.
