  1. China is artificially propping up their troubled domestic manufacturing with government support. Their domestic market is cratering and they are financing continued production with loans. History shows China will eat a fair bit more than half the cost of tariffs to avoid dropping production. If tariffs can drop EU demand for tofu dreg cars, and Trump keeps China out of the US market, they will be stuck selling at even bigger loses to the third world till their economy collapses. Once China has to drop output on their government supported new industries they will reach the tipping point and their whole economic house of cards will collapse. The CCP will prove they cannot provide prosperity in exchange for tyranny. The CCP needs to fail to free a billion people from an authoritarian nightmare. None of this will help Europe to become competitive, but Europe has no stomach to make the sacrifices to become competitive so at least they can help to end tyranny.
