  1. The worst example of a permanently downtrodden people who were forever ruined by colonization from western empires is the primitive dwellers of the British Isles. They've been in shambles even since the Romans brutally colonized them, robbed their wealth, slaughtered their people, and largely destroyed their native culture. They couldn't turn it around, so why imagine that anybody since then could?
