  1. Communism teaches that all human relationships are built on power, not mutual reciprocity. If everything is an exercise of power, then why wouldn't you steal, cheat, and kill to get ahead? Capitalism might be able to peacefully adapt to Confucian moral principles but not to Communist Atheism. Capitalism has no moral framework of its own because it is just the economic model of Enlightenment Protestantism. Religion is a common narrative that sets baseline of expected moral obligations for its adherents and an ideal to aim for, allowing some level of trust between strangers that was not possible in the world of hunter gatherer tribes. Religion was the social fabric that let cities exist and later allowed for the existence of pluralistic societies. In destroying traditional Chinese religion, the CCP destroyed all the social fabric that trust is built on. Thus, when they moved from Russian Styled Marxism to "Communism with Chinese Characteristics," China just switched from amoral collectivism to amoral individualism.
