  1. Leveraging Venezuela to get a win against Cuba might not be the worst idea in the world. Besides, Trump will probably give Maduro more in lip service than in concessions. For all his talking up of Kim and Putin, he kept up sanctions on them and thwarted their geopolitical aims such as keeping Nordstream 2 dead to keep Putin from invading Ukraine. I think we all benefit from the US achieving its policy goals without putting boots on the ground and flattery mixed with bravado might be the cheapest price we can pay for it.
