Every new generation of Israelis has a change of heart about the necessity of making sacrifices for a strong defense when they are faced with the brutal reality that there are tens if not hundreds of millions of people who believe they have no right to even exist, and most of them are their neighbors. Israel isn't a large country. Everybody knows somebody who was murdered by HAMAS. This isn't a partisan issue, the war is being prosecuted by a unity government. Israelis will take up the question of military reductions only once the many Iranian proxies currently attacking them are destroyed. And it will probably be the children born after that who are the first to bring the subject up when they come of age, assuming that they don't see another invasion themselves. It's probably fair to say that none of the writers here have experienced the trauma of finding out that many of their fellow citizens have been murdered by foreign terrorists and/or soldiers and being unable to call their family members to verify if they are alive due to the sheer volume of people desperate to do the same.
