When you consider that so many of the west's poorer allies have been using armaments made by the same communist countries that they are expecting to have to defend themselves against, it is incredibly valuable for a NATO country to supply less expensive high quality NATO compliant arms to them instead. And if countries like Poland license South Korean technology, they can help fill gaps in NATO supplies if they are not on the front lines of a conflict between east and west since bigger industrial powers like France, Germany, and to a lesser extent the United States have been sending Ukraine their military reserves without ramping up domestic arms manufacturing.
