I was always confused why the Bible seemed to hate dogs so much when their society was heavily involved with herding. The idea that the verses are referring to behaviors of wild dogs rather than the domestic ones makes so much more sense. Since religious texts do not touch on all aspects of everyday life and there were no canine-related religious practices in Israel, it would not be unreasonable to find no positive references to dogs in the text.

I had always wondered where the notion of the rapture came from, as it is one of the many popular Christian ideas that isn't specifically written in the text. I think it was because his first bible was a Scofield that my father got so wrapped up in the idea during the Jesus Movement of the 70s, despite rapture not really part of the theology of the denomination he ended up in. Pretribulation rapture always seemed inexplicable to me, since modern America seemed to be one of the few places in time where the church did not experience what American Evangelicals would describe as tribulation between the first century and the modern day. It's kinda hard to believe in a pretribulation rapture when you grow up with horror stories about the treatment of Christians under Communism. I always wondered why would we be spared from what tens of millions of people across the entire planet in two millennia had not been spared from?
