  1. Firstly, the fact the much of Africa's easily obtainable 'wealth' was mined and removed by Europe et al may have something to do with the north / south 'imbalance' in Africa? Secondly, the northern hemisphere has been largely populated by 'modern' civilisations for centuries - allowing for major development. The southern has only 'recently' been developed. There are numerous other factors such as education, stability of government, corruption etc etc where many southern nations lag behind the northern.
