11:49 No, attempting to distance physical attraction from "celestial" love is perfectly in line with Plato. No need for Christian influence to be involved in this case. In Plato's conception, the material world is a shadow and corruption of the true reality, and, thus, carnal lust is a corruption of the true form of love, so it would make perfect sense for Plato to attempt to separate the two in the way you described. Why do you think we call love that doesn't involve any physical attraction or intimacy "platonic"?

Libertarian self-insert, wish-fulfillment fiction? Ayn Rand anyone?

@bluelfsuma Yup. It's hiding in plain sight in the very language we speak.

@Rvr221 Yes, ancient Greek pederasty does relate to their concepts of love and which sort of love they thought best. It is a bit strange to think that large part of Plato's Symposium seems to be dedicated to arguing that the best sort of relationship is one between a grown man and a teenage boy, haha.

@randymercedes2511 Ah, come on, he's not all that, haha. I still like Plato. Why do you hate him?

5:30 Because philosophy is a grammatically feminine word in Italian... and in Greek... and in Arabic. Words relating to wisdom are often grammatically feminine. In Hebrew, too, as seen in Solomon's Proverbs.
